Every report of the same failure lands on one issue.
A web report carries a replay of the page (rebuilt from DOM events, not video), the network requests, the console and the stack. A server report carries the stack, the route and the release.
Compare · Sentry
BugTape groups one failure and hands the evidence to your coding agent over MCP. You can run it next to Sentry.
Keep your error monitor
BugTape does not do everything an error monitor can. This list is about BugTape only. Check each vendor’s own site for its current features and prices.
Sentry already has session replay (web and mobile: Android, iOS, React Native, Flutter), a User Feedback widget and crash-report modal linked to replays, an official MCP server (mcp.sentry.dev, listed in the MCP registry as io.github.getsentry/sentry-mcp), and a Lovable chat connector. “It has replay” or “it has MCP” is not a reason to switch away from Sentry.
Public Sentry docs on 2026-10-16 place MCP at https://mcp.sentry.dev/mcp (listed in the official MCP registry as io.github.getsentry/sentry-mcp) and require OAuth. Sentry also has Session Replay for web and mobile, a User Feedback widget and a Lovable chat connector. The Seer issue-fix API (a paid add-on) describes root cause, generated code changes and opening a pull request, and can hand off to Claude Code, Cursor Cloud Agents or GitHub Copilot. BugTape does not claim that loop is unique, and it does not claim Sentry lacks regression detection. A longer look at the two MCP servers: Sentry MCP alternative. Weighing other trackers too? See Sentry alternatives and Bugsnag vs Sentry.
| Fatal native crash capture | BugTape does not capture fatal native crashes and does not symbolicate. The Swift package (alpha) sends handled errors, messages, breadcrumbs and user reports. |
|---|---|
| Tracing, logs and metrics | BugTape does not do performance tracing, log search or metrics dashboards. It records what led up to each failure. |
| AI root-cause and PR from a paid add-on | Sentry’s Seer (a paid add-on) describes a root cause, proposes code changes and opens a pull request, and can hand off to Claude Code, Cursor Cloud Agents or GitHub Copilot. BugTape hands evidence to your own agent instead; it does not generate the fix itself. |
| Self-hosting | Sentry self-hosts under its FSL licence (Seer and other AI features are not available self-hosted). BugTape does not run on your own servers; it is a hosted service at app.bugtape.ai. |
| SOC 2 | Sentry publishes a SOC 2 Type 2 report and ISO 27001 certification (sentry.io/trust). BugTape is not SOC 2 certified. We answer security questionnaires. |
| EU data region | BugTape does not offer an EU region. Data is stored in Sydney, Australia. |
| Price to start | Sentry has a free Developer plan (1 user); Team starts from $26/mo billed annually (sentry.io/pricing). BugTape is free with no card, Prepaid credits are $10 for 2,000, and Pro is $29/mo. |
| Other languages | BugTape has SDKs for the browser, Node.js, Python and Swift. Other languages send errors to the HTTP ingest API. React Native uses a copy-in file, not an SDK. |
| Long event history | BugTape keeps recorded events for 7 days on Free and 30 days on Pro and Prepaid credits. Issues stay until you delete them. |
What BugTape adds
These are BugTape’s own features, on every plan unless the card says otherwise.
A web report carries a replay of the page (rebuilt from DOM events, not video), the network requests, the console and the stack. A server report carries the stack, the route and the release.
A new issue costs 1 credit. A repeat report of an issue you already have costs 0, even when the bug fires on every page view.
Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any MCP client reads the evidence itself. Press Send to agent, or let the agent listen and wake when a new issue arrives.
Pro includes 10,000 credits and unmetered agent reads. BugTape does not charge per fix: your own agent does the work.
Approve a fix and BugTape watches the next release. If the same failure comes back from a newer release, the issue reopens as a regression and you get an alert.
Typed inputs are masked before a report is sent. Strict mode turns page text into blocks, and sealed client details stay unreadable to BugTape.
Run both
Both browser SDKs can load on the same page. Each one reports errors on its own, so a failure shows up in both tools.
Switch the browser SDK
Use the script tag, or npm install @bugtape/sdk with a bundler and import { init } from '@bugtape/sdk'. Not shipped. BugTape does not accept a Sentry DSN, so you swap the browser SDK's init call rather than point an existing DSN at BugTape.
Setup mints a bt_live_* project key and shows it once.
Call init once, after your cookie or consent banner allows it.
In the browser console, run setTimeout(() => { throw new Error('BugTape install test'); }); A new issue called BugTape install test appears in Issues.
<script type="module">
import { init } from 'https://app.bugtape.ai/bugtape.mjs';
init({ apiKey: 'bt_live_your_key_here' });
</script>Yes. Sentry has Session Replay for web and mobile (Android, iOS, React Native, Flutter). BugTape also records a browser replay, but only a short buffer around each failure, and only on the web.
Yes to both. Sentry has a User Feedback widget and crash-report modal linked to replays, and an official MCP server at https://mcp.sentry.dev/mcp (listed in the MCP registry as io.github.getsentry/sentry-mcp). Lovable lists Sentry as a chat connector. BugTape's bug button and MCP server do similar jobs; the difference is BugTape groups user reports and automatic failures into one issue and hands that issue to your own agent.
For browser errors with a replay, bug reports from your users and a hand-off to your coding agent, yes. For fatal native crashes, tracing, logs, metrics, self-hosting, SOC 2 or an EU data region, no: BugTape does not do those, so keep the tool you have.
Yes. Both browser SDKs can load on the same page, and each one reports errors on its own. You can start with both and decide later.
Free is $0 with no credit card: 100 new issues a month, 1 project, 3 members and 7 days of recorded events. A prepaid pack costs $10 for 2,000 credits that never expire. Pro is $29 a month with 10,000 credits, 5,000 new issues a month and unmetered agent reads. A repeat report of an issue you already have costs 0 credits. Sentry has a free Developer plan (1 user); Team starts from $26/mo billed annually (sentry.io/pricing).
No. BugTape gives the evidence to your coding agent over MCP. The agent works on a fix and opens a pull request, and your team decides what ships. Sentry's Seer, a paid add-on, proposes a fix itself and can hand off to Claude Code, Cursor Cloud Agents or GitHub Copilot.
In Sydney, Australia. There is no EU region, and BugTape is not SOC 2 certified. The security page lists every subprocessor. Sentry publishes a SOC 2 Type 2 report and ISO 27001 certification, and self-hosts under its FSL licence (Seer and other AI features are not available self-hosted).
The browser SDK (a script tag, or @bugtape/sdk on npm), Node.js (@bugtape/node), Python (bugtape on PyPI) and a Swift package for iOS and macOS (alpha, handled errors only). React Native uses a copy-in file, not an SDK. Any other language can send errors to the HTTP ingest API.
The Free plan needs no credit card, so you can see real issues from your own app before you pay for anything.
| What it records | Supported browser errors, failed requests, and a short DOM replay with the report. It does not record every visit. |
|---|---|
| No account | npx -y bugtape --help prints the commands and does not sign you in. The live demo stays in the browser. The demo MCP at https://app.bugtape.ai/demo/mcp needs no sign-in. Your own workspace needs one. |
| Price | Free is $0. Prepaid credits are $10 for 2,000 credits. Pro is $29 a month. |
| Not included | Hosted screenshots and voice notes are not stored. Fatal iOS crash capture is not available. |

Yes. npx -y bugtape --help prints the CLI and does not sign you in. The live demo runs in your browser and sends nothing. The demo MCP at https://app.bugtape.ai/demo/mcp needs no sign-in. Your own workspace needs one.
No. It keeps a short buffer in the browser and sends that buffer with a supported error or a user report.
