Lovable error monitoring with BugTape

Add BugTape to Lovable as a custom MCP connector with OAuth. Lovable reads real-user errors, the failed request and stack, then fixes the code.

Answer: To get real-user errors from your live Lovable app into Lovable chat, add BugTape's script tag to your app, add https://app.bugtape.ai/mcp as a custom MCP connector in Lovable with OAuth, sign in to BugTape and click Allow, then ask Lovable: "Using BugTape, list my projects." BugTape's Free plan needs no credit card. We ran this flow end to end on 14 October 2026, and a later test connected, listed BugTape's tools and returned real data. The steps below are the ones that worked.

Three options, use what fits

Lovable already gives you ways to see errors. BugTape sits next to them. It does not replace them.

If you already run Sentry, keep it. You can add BugTape as well and choose per bug which evidence to hand Lovable. BugTape and Sentry explains how the two fit together.

Before you start

A published Lovable app. BugTape only captures from real visitors who load the script.
A free BugTape account: Start free. No credit card.

Step 1: add the BugTape script to your app

Create a project in BugTape. Setup shows your bt_live_ key. Then ask Lovable in chat:

privacy: 'strict' turns page text into solid blocks, strips query strings and drops request and response bodies before anything leaves the browser. Form fields are masked in every mode. The bt_live_ key only sends reports. It cannot open MCP. Publish the app so real visitors load the script.

Step 2: add BugTape as a custom MCP connector

In Lovable, open the chat connectors and add a custom MCP server.

Set the server URL to https://app.bugtape.ai/mcp.
Keep OAuth as the sign-in method.
Save. Lovable opens a BugTape sign-in window.

Pick the workspace Lovable should use.
Under What it may do, choose Pick up and fix issues or Follow and read issues, and tick or untick File new issues and Set up capture.
Under Access ends after, keep the default of 90 days or pick 30, 180 or 365 days. Click Allow.

Lovable then shows the connector as Connected and lists the BugTape tools. You can remove the connector in Lovable, or remove the agent from BugTape's Team page, at any time.

Step 4: first prompt

Check the connection first:

Using BugTape, list my projects.

Lovable calls list_projects and shows your BugTape projects. Once real errors arrive, ask:

Using BugTape, call list_recommended_critical, take the top issue, and call get_repro_context for it. Explain what broke, then fix it.

Lovable edits the code in its own chat. You review the change and publish it yourself. BugTape marks only its plain read tools, such as list_projects, as read-only. Tools that use credits or change an issue, such as list_recommended_critical, get_repro_context and ack_bug, are not marked read-only, so Lovable may ask you to approve them first.

Step 5: close the loop

Ask Lovable to call ack_bug with action: "working" when it takes an issue, so your team sees Picked up.
When you mark the issue fixed, BugTape anchors the fix to the release. If the same failure arrives from a newer release, the issue reopens as a regression.

Plans and credits

MCP works on every plan, including Free. On Free and Prepaid credits, each agent read of a bug's captured events costs 2 credits. Free includes 150 credits a month. On Pro ($29 USD a month) those reads are free. A prepaid pack costs $10 USD for 2,000 credits. Detail is on Pricing.

listen (the live wait for the next bug) needs Pro, or prepaid credits on the workspace. On Free without those credits, start with list_recommended_critical. Do not start with list_bugs.

Capture keys (bt_live_ / bt_test_) are rejected for MCP. They only send reports. The agent uses OAuth or a bt_pat_ token. MCP install · MCP tools.

FAQ

How do I see my Lovable app's production errors in Lovable chat? Add BugTape's script tag to your app, then add https://app.bugtape.ai/mcp as a custom MCP connector with OAuth. Lovable can then read each issue's user steps, failed request, console and stack.

Does BugTape replace Lovable Project monitoring or the Sentry connector? No. Use them alongside each other. BugTape adds the user steps, the failed request, console and stack for each issue, ready for Lovable to read.

Can BugTape see what my users type? Form fields are masked in the browser. With privacy: 'strict', page text is also blocked out and request and response bodies are dropped before anything leaves the browser.

Does Lovable open a pull request? Not by default. Lovable edits code in its own chat. If your project syncs to GitHub, the changes land there.
